In the early 2000s, Thomas Pepe and Todd McGregor Dunphy began their entrepreneurial journey in telecom. Immersed in a world-class environment, they honed their skills in sales, finance, brand management, customer service, and leadership. Quickly realizing they were entrepreneurs, the pair incubated ideas aimed at tackling wireless waste and simplifying the process for customers to switch mobile carriers. These dialogues were the seeds of a shared dream that would soon take root in their first startup.
With the support of friends, family, institutional investors, a private equity firm, and eventually their ultimate acquirer, Sprint, they tackled the challenge of wireless waste. Their journey was typical of any venture, with highs and lows, triumphs and setbacks, forging relationships, and testing bonds. However, their innovation and intellectual property led to Sprint's groundbreaking "Cut Your Bill In Half" campaign, which not only changed the mobile landscape but also paved the way for T-Mobile's acquisition of Sprint after the latter's partnership with RadioShack.
Inspired by their early success, Pepe and Dunphy founded what is now Breathing Lion. Combining elements of a startup lab, an investment platform, and a management consulting firm.
